Surgery Scheduled

I will be having an extended septal myectomy on Friday Feb. 18th. Intensive care for 3 days then a week in the hospital. I will be out of work for at least 8 weeks.
I have so many things to take care of betewwn now and then that I suspect the time will fly by. I'm mostly worried about the pain afterward. Please continue with the prayers and well wishes, I'll sure need them.

My OWOH will be looked at by my daughter. She will check the blog and e-mail. Such a bad time to have surgery! LOL

Scheduled

On Feb. 9th I will be meeting with Dr. Guyton at Emory to set up the myectomy. I have to have a cardiac cath before surgery so it will probably be scheduled then as well.

Surgery

I saw my doctor at Emory Saturday, he told me I needed to have the septal myectomy. His office will call me Monday with an appointment date with the surgeon. I still can't wrap myself around this, it seems like it's somebody else. Scared? Yes, very! This will be not only open heart surgery but they will be cutting off a piece of my heart, I think terrified is a better word!

Snow Day

My appointment was canceled at Emory due to snow. We got 10 inches of the white stuff here so the whole State was at a stand still. I should know Tuesday when my next appointment will be.

Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy is the leading cause of sudden death in people under 18, it also causes a high number of cases of sudden death in adults. Like me most people don't know they have the disease until they are older although I did have symptoms in my 30's.

Surgery improves the quality of life but does not lenghten your life.

At long last

I have finally found enough time to post to my blog. The last year has been a whirlwind for me. I was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Obstructive Cardiomyopathy last July and have since spent many hours with doctors and doing tests. I am now being seen at Emory hospital in Atlanta, my next appointment is next Tuesday, weather permitting. I will be having more tests and discussing surgery (myectomy). I plan to keep posted here as things move along. Please take the time to look up and learn about this genitic disease.

Missing in Action

I will still be missing in action for another month. My daughter and grandchildren are returning from Japan tomorrow after three years away! After our grand reunion I'm sure you will see more of me!

Of Queens and Things

When my sister and I were young we adored the Queen of England. We wanted to be just like her, what little girl didn't? My daddy had these pictures from when he was in the military. As you can see they are in bad shape from my sister and I playing with them as children. Yes, the Queen came to our tea parties! Be sure to click on them for a larger view!

This is my first post.
I have been so inspired by many different blogs and I've learned so many new techniques that I needed a place to keep them.
